Healthy ways to boost your immune system

This is an information share with suggestions and is in no way meant to be a replacement for medical advice.

1. Vitamin C

2. Vitamin D and vitamin K2

3. Vitamin A

4. Magnesium

5. B-Complex

6. Zinc

7. Antiviral herbs: echinacea, oregano oil, olive leaf, astragalus, cats claw, licorice root

8. Silver hydrosol or colloidal silver

9. Low carbohydrate diet – Paleo, Ketogenic, Carnivore

10. Wim Hoff breathing technique

11. Advanced strategies

1. Vitamin C

Dosing:

a. 4 doses of 1000 mg spread out over the day is a reasonable low end

b. 4 to 6 doses to bowel tolerance is a reasonable high end

c. Finding a dose you can take every hour to bowel tolerance while you’re sick is also a reasonable approach.

Ascorbic Acid or Sodium Ascorbate are my Preferences.

NOW Ascorbic acid powder

Link: https://www.amazon.com/Foods-Vitamin-Crystals-Ascorbic-Pound/dp/B0013OUMVO/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=Nutribiotic+ascorbic+acid+powder&qid=1584988219&s=hpc&sr=1-8

Nutribiotic sodium ascorbate powder

Link: https://www.amazon.com/Nutribiotic-Sodium-Ascorbate-Powder-Ounce/dp/B000Z8YM7O

Most people don’t know the incredible power of vitamin C because either they didn’t know how much to take or they were afraid of taking too much. Guess what? Vitamin C has no known toxicity and if you take too much you get diarrhea so your body gives you amazing feedback to help you find the right dosing strategy.

You have to be willing to do a little self experimentation to find your individual dosing needs. And it’s important to realize they can change day by day and even within the day.

2. Vitamin D and vitamin K2

Dosing: 5000 IU of vitamin D with 500 µg vitamin K2 MK4 up to

10,000 IU of vitamin D with 1 mg vitamin K2 MK4

The Japanese have done long-term studies with vitamin K2 MK4 for osteoporosis and use three doses a day of 15 mg.

Vitamin K2 MK4 can be found in animal fats: meat fat, dairy products and butter especially if the animal is 100% grass fed. if you can eat butter, Kerry Gold is a decent choice.

Somewhere in this range is very reasonable without testing. Especially considering your body will make 10,000 IU or even more with full sun exposure in the middle of the day in 30 minutes or less depending on your latitude.

Vitamin D is a powerful immune booster and it also causes your body to absorb more calcium from your food. Vitamin K2 tells the calcium where to go, out of the soft tissues and into the bone. A lot more could be said about both of these vitamins but I’ll leave it at that for now. I will go more into depth on these two in a forthcoming blog.

Thorne vitamin D/K2

3. Vitamin A

Dosing: 8 – 16 oz of grass fed beef liver per week or the equivalent.

A lot of people won’t like this recommendation because they do not like liver. I spent a bunch of time looking and I just can’t find a supplement that I’m really happy with. Many of the vitamin A supplements come from fish liver and I have a lot of concerns about micro plastics and heavy metals and rancidity. Vegetables contain beta-carotene, which can be broken down into vitamin A, but a lot of people have trouble breaking it down efficiently into vitamin A. The vitamin A in liver is in the perfect form that can be used easily. One way to get around the taste of liver is to cut it up into small pieces and freeze them. Then you can swallow them like pills without tasting them. You can buy desiccated liver in capsules which can be especially helpful when you’re traveling but otherwise I think they’re overpriced.

Liver is probably the most nutrient dense food on the planet. It’s high in vitamins and minerals and other nutrients in their most assimilable form.

4. Magnesium

Dosing: 400–600 mg powdered form per day, as long as that doesn’t create diarrhea for you. 2-3 tsp ReMag.

Form: magnesium citrate or magnesium glycinate or ReMag. ReMag May be a little pricey for some people‘s budgets but it is100% absorbable and it does not create laxative effect.

ReMag

Magnesium glycinate

Link: https://www.amazon.com/Doctors-Best-Absorption-Magnesium-Glycinate/dp/B000BD0RT0/ref=sr_1_22?keywords=Magnesium+citrate&qid=1584990292&s=hpc&sr=1-22

Magnesium just makes everything in the body work better. One of its especially important functions is that it is necessary for the creation of 600-800 enzymes which many of which are especially important for detoxification.

I have written a blog about magnesium.

5. B complex

Dosing: One capsule a day of my recommended B complex or something equivalent.

Klaire Labs Active B complex

Link: https://www.amazon.com/Klaire-Labs-Active-Complex-Methylcobalamin/dp/B00TYW4FXS/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=Claire+labs+active+B+complex&qid=1584990758&s=hpc&sr=1-4

This B complex contains the B vitamins in their correct forms four ease of utilization by the body. B vitamins are critical for energy creation and proper detoxification among many other critical functions.

6. Zinc

Dosing: 30-50mg

Chelated Zinc

Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000I4DHLW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Zinc is a key mineral for immune function and many other factors in the body.

7. Antiviral herbs

This is the small list:

Echinacea

Oregano oil

Olive leaf extract

Cats claw

Astragalus

Licorice root

Each one of these probably has a book written about them. So I’ll just leave it up to you to investigate.

8. Silver hydrosol or colloidal silver

Dosing: 1-6 tsp Per day as needed in divided doses. It can also be sprayed into your nose or into your mouth and some will use it in a nebulizer. Also is great topically for wound care.

This is a full spectrum anti-microbial. It can be taken as a preventative as well as when you’re actively sick. I felt an eye infection coming on one evening and I put one drop in my eye before bed and then again in the morning and it was gone!

9. Low carbohydrate animal-based diets-Paleo, Ketogenic and Carnivore

This could be a long entry and I will be giving it a separate blog in the near future to support my assertions. Even though this may sound really restrictive there is a lot of space for individuality in these diets. Some people fine when they give up grains they feel great. Others find they feel really good when they’re in ketosis. And still others find that they really don’t start healing until they nothing but animal foods. The Inuit, the Masai, The plains Indians

Practitioners and self experimenters all across the planet are finding that diets high in animal products are healing for the human body. The nutrients in animal products are exactly in the right forms that humans need and the research shows they are more easily assimilated than the nutrients in plant foods. Saturated fat actually is good for us. Cholesterol actually is good for us. Red meat is actually good for us. Too many carbohydrates can be bad for us. Many plant foods have toxins that can be really bad for us. We need lots of protein for a healthy immune system and lots of healthy fats and cholesterol for a healthy endocrine system.

I’ve been on a animal meat and fat diet since mid August 2019. I am not bored with my diet and I am turning my health around. I’ve been under weight my entire life and I’m finally starting to put on some weight and I am seeing signs of some deep healing. The circumference of my thighs increased by 1.5 inches from mid September to early January doing the exact same exercise on my electronic stimulation bicycle but I have been doing for several years.

I have dived deep into studying these diets the past eight months and I am absolutely impressed with the results that practitioners are seeing and self experimenters doing their own n=1 diets. I am a huge fan of 100% grass fed beef and lamb and pastured pork, chicken, turkey and eggs. But even people eating conventionally raised animals are still experiencing great improvements in their health when their carbs are kept low to zero.

Dr. Nadir Ali is a cardiologist in the Houston Texas area that has been in practice for over 30 years. A number of years ago he got so frustrated with how a few of his clients were getting better that he stopped his office visits and only continued work as a surgeon inserting stents. He was also frustrated with his inability to lose weight himself. After getting introduced to a low carbohydrate and high animal foods-based diet he finally started losing weight until his body stabilized at a more ideal body weight. He had such great success himself he re-opened his office and started teaching people about the low carbohydrate diet and now he is thrilled with the positive results his patients are achieving! Every month he does a free workshop where he teaches people how he eats and regularly has 100 to 150 people in attendance.

Here he is getting interviewed by Paul Saladino, MD:

Here is his presentation at low carb Denver 2019 explaining how low carb high fat often creates high LDL and how it’s necessary:

Dr. Paul Saladino‘s new book that just got released in February 2020 called The Carnivore Code:

Consider checking out some of the success stories at Dr. Shawn Baker‘s website in support of a carnivore diet:

A word of warning.

If you decide to increase your animal products and decrease your plant foods some people find there is an adjustment period so it is best to go slow, especially if you have had any chronic health issues. You want to especially pay importance to the foods that are high in oxalates and make sure if you are reducing them you reduce them over a period of 4 to 6 weeks.

10. Breath work by Wim Hoff aka The Iceman

Dosing: once or twice a day or more as needed.

Wim Hoff holds 26 world records for doing superhuman feats: submerged up to his neck in ice water for 80 minutes and he was able to raise his core temperature, climbing Mount Everest in shorts and shoes only, running a half marathon above the Arctic Circle with only shorts on, running a full marathon in the hot desert without training and with no water, Wim and 12 students he trained had lowered symptoms and recovered more quickly compared to the test subjects after getting injected with bacterial endotoxins.

INFLUENCING THE IMMUNE SYSTEM

There are a ton of other videos out there if you are interested.

I’ve only been practicing this breathing technique for a short time but I love how I feel after and it often naturally leads me into meditation. If I continue to lay there after I complete several rounds of the breathing I just naturally find my breathing to be slow, full and relaxed.

The Miracle of Magnesium

** for the quick summary go to the bottom of this article**

Magnesium is by far my favorite mineral! Keep reading to see why!

In my health coaching practice, I focus on nutrients that are both foundational and critical for our health. Nutrients that are so important that it’s not worth risking having insufficient amounts in our diet and/or nutrients that have been depleted in our soils and are no longer available in sufficient quantities in our food to keep us healthy and strong.

Magnesium is one of those foundational and critical nutrients. Unfortunately, many of our soils are severely deficient in magnesium. That combined with our bodies greater needs for magnesium because it gets used up quickly dealing with environmental toxins and medications. This creates a situation for which I believe all of us should supplement magnesium. In my experience it’s not a matter of should you take it or not, it’s taking the time and practicing good observation to see how much is optimal for your body.

The Many Benefits of Magnesium

Here is a long and yet still incomplete list of things that magnesium can help with:

  1. Tight and sore muscles

Not all Magnesium Products are created Equal and My Personal Experience

Not all magnesium products are the same. There is one magnesium product, in my experience, that stands out above all the rest. It is easily absorbed and it does not create laxative effect. It is called ReMag. It was developed by Dr. Carolyn Dean who is both a medical doctor and a naturopathic doctor. I can literally feel the effects of taking ReMag within minutes after drinking it. Personally, I think it’s all absorbed in the stomach before it even gets into the small intestine. The stuff is magic. Within less than six months of taking it I was able to get off of 4 medications. Two medications for my adrenals, hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone, one medication for spasms, baclofen, and high dosage potassium. Unfortunately I was almost too late finding this magnesium.

I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2003 when I was 39 years old. This is highly unusual for a man. Unfortunately, I have had chronic digestive issues for years and then a spinal cord injury seven years ago. High doses of corticosteroids for too long after my accident only made things worse. In 2018 I discovered that I had three fractures in my right knee from riding my bike with osteoporosis. At the time of the fractures I was only taking a small dose of hydrocortisone, but too much damage had already been done.

I started taking ReMag in February 2018. After four months of ReMag I was able to start riding my bike again and now I am hitting it hard without any problems. I believe an imbalance in my gut had made it very difficult for me to efficiently absorb powdered magnesium and even some other liquid forms. I have learned in my research that this is not unusual. In my case, I was not able to take more than 100 mg of any type of magnesium I tried without getting very loose stools. There could also be a toxicity issue and/or A low stomach acid issue involved in my inability to easily absorb magnesium.

I can strongly say that ReMag has given me a lot more years of life without my skeleton crumbling! Osteoporosis can be the bane of existence for people with quadriplegia. Obviously, there are other important factors besides magnesium when it comes to healthy bones, like vitamin D, vitamin K2, vitamin A, boron, protein and more. However, magnesium is a key critical nutrient in supporting bone health. I will address these other nutrients in forthcoming blogs.

Client Testimonials

As an example, I had a health coaching client some time ago who started taking 1/4 teaspoon of ReMag and immediately got some very strong anxiety. I believe her anxiety was caused by magnesium turning on her detoxification pathways and exposing her body to toxins that her body now was able to better eliminate. I had her stop the magnesium and quickly build up her dose of sodium ascorbate (vitamin C) to her bowel tolerance… Which in her case was about 10 to 12 g per day. Vitamin C is a very powerful anti-toxin and it can help smooth out the bumps when you are having heavy detoxification happen. When she started the ReMag again, she hardly had any symptoms and was able to increase her dose by 1/4 teaspoon every three days until she got to 3 teaspoons. Once this client got her dosage up to three teaspoons per day within a month she had some significant health improvements:
• Better sleep
• More energy
• Better mood
• Deeper stretching
• Better cognitive processing
• Old injury sites fading
• More motivation to follow interests
• Calmer

Another client started taking ReMag at the advice of my partner Beth. Beth suggested it to this friend and colleague when she mentioned she was suffering from regularly occurring migraines for a number of years. She started with the recommended 1/4 teaspoon ReMag mixed in 1 quart of water with 1/4 teaspoon Himalayan salt or sea salt. After just the first few sips she felt absolutely fabulous, but unfortunately, after a few hours of continuous sipping she started to feel really lousy. Obviously really strong detox reactions were happening. She told Beth what was happening and Beth let me know so that I could be in touch with her and give her some coaching on how to best handle the symptoms.

On her own she figured out that she needed to greatly reduce her initial dosage to five drops. I applauded her on her great intuition to reduce her dosage but to continue taking it. I advised her to start taking vitamin C, I usually recommend sodium ascorbate because it’s buffered to a neutral pH, to bowel tolerance in three or four divided doses each day. On her own she also added in oregano oil three times a day before meals because she felt like she was experiencing candida symptoms. She had to dance up and down with her ReMag dosage as her body was going through this initial detox phase. When she felt good she experimented with raising her dosage and when her symptoms got too strong she reduced her dosage. She also added in a multi mineral liquid also created by Carolyn Dean which is called ReMyte. I just spoke with her a couple of days ago and she now is up to 2.5 teaspoons of ReMag and she is feeling great! She told me that she has not had a migraine in the last month and that it is the first time in six years that she has not had two or three migraines every month! She know she’s not out of the woods yet but she also told me that she’s very hopeful that she may be able to have a migraine free life!

How to use ReMag: Go Low and Slow

Warning!: Tread carefully when introducing ReMag.
Go low and slow!

ReMag is rocket fuel! It turns on your Kreb’s cycle and it turns on your detoxification pathways. You must start taking it slowly and pay attention to your symptoms.

Dr. Dean recommends starting with 1/4 teaspoon mixed into 1 quart of water and 1/4 teaspoon of high-quality Himalayan salt or sea salt, and sip on that throughout the day. I’ve seen enough people have significant symptoms on 1/4 teaspoon of ReMag, so with many people I’m recommending they start with five drops.

For sensitive people or if you’re not sure:
If you already know you are a sensitive type, no judgment whatsoever as I am one, you want to start low and go slow. You might even consider loading yourself up with vitamin C and finding your bowel tolerance and then backing off slightly as a way of preparing yourself for the detoxification pathways that the magnesium will turn on. You can read my blog about vitamin C to get more details on how to find bowel tolerance and how to space out your dosing.

Start with five drops of ReMag in 32 ounces of water with 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt or Himalayan salt. If after three or four days you don’t have any remarkable negative symptoms go up another five drops. Every three or four days go up five drops as long as you are experiencing no negative symptoms or mild symptoms which are easily tolerable. When you get to 30 drops that’s 1/4 teaspoon. If you’ve had no negative symptoms on your way to 30 drops either continue going up by five drops every three or four days or if you feel brave you might consider going up by 1/4 teaspoon. Remember, everyone is an individual and there is no judgment based on whether you have detoxification symptoms or not. Listen to your body and let that be your guide.

For not so sensitive people:
Start with 1/4 teaspoon of ReMag and 32 ounces of water with 1/4 teaspoon sea salt or Himalayan salt. Every three or four days increase ReMag by 1/4 teaspoon as long as you are not experiencing negative symptoms or if they are mild and tolerable.

If you do have some reactions you can always stop and take a break for a day or two or you can reduce your dose to the last previous dose where you were more comfortable. For some people, taking a break can be more problematic than lowering your dose. In that scenario, you’ve turned on these detoxification processes when you started taking the magnesium which might be a little bit like opening the floodgates to relieve the pressure behind a dam. In your body, You’re giving it a critical nutrient that helps it begin to clear house and although for some people it may be a rough and bumpy road as the body begins to clear a backlog of toxins eventually it will become smoother. However, if the ride becomes too bumpy and you decide to stop all magnesium but the garbage is already in process of clearing out of your cells, it may be harder on your body to stop the magnesium cold turkey then to simply reduce the dose. This can’t be said as a blanket statement because I’ve seen people do it both ways successfully.

My intention here is to give you some education so if the road is bumpy you know you have some choices. And for some people, having a health coach to hold your hand while you navigate the bumps can be a really helpful thing!

How much should I take long-term?

Dr. Dean considers 3 or 4 teaspoons a day to be a therapeutic dose. So in general, I suggest people see if they’re able to increase their dose to three or four teaspoons per day. For some people they can get to that level in a few weeks or a few months. For other people they may only be able to get up to 3/4 of a teaspoon or 1.5 teaspoons per day, and when they try to get above that the symptoms become too strong, even after a year or more. When people have trouble getting above 2 teaspoons I sometimes think it may be a sign that there are some other fundamental issues that may need to be resolved before they can raise the level of magnesium higher. They may just have to be doing a long-term detoxification, they could possibly have a heavy metal issue compounding things or maybe even A hidden affection that could be interfering with their bodies ability to detox properly. in these cases one thing that person can lean on is that any amount of magnesium that they’re getting into their body is a good thing and incredibly beneficial!

How do I know when I have filled up my body is magnesium stores?

Depending on your deficiency level it may take several months or even a year or more until you have successfully repleted your magnesium stores and can move to a maintenance dosage of 1 or 2 teaspoons per day. Even though ReMag in general does not cause a laxative effect, some people will notice that after they have been on a therapeutic dosage for sometime and are feeling better, they may start to experience loose stools. This could be the body signal that your magnesium stores are filled up. If that happens, at that point you can reduce your dose and see if you still maintain the same positive effects that you have achieved since starting ReMag. Basically, you need to practice good observation and tune your dose to how you feel. For some people tuning the daily dose might mean just locking in at 1 teaspoon or 2 teaspoons per day, but with good observation you can learn to adjust your dose on a as needed basis based on exercise level, mental output, stress, illness, etc.

Since I started taking ReMag I have let a lot of people know about it. Many of them say, “oh yeah, I take magnesium.“ And then I say, “ this stuff is special!“ And then they say, “I take such and such magnesium product.“ And then I say, “this stuff is different, you’ve never tried anything like it before.” Sometimes they look at me with a blank stare, sometimes they say, “I’m happy with what I’m taking,“ and sometimes they change the topic of conversation. As the old saying goes, “you can bring a horse to water but you can’t make them drink!“

Sometimes they really do get interested and then give it a try. And some of those people experience real detoxification symptoms and that really gets their attention. I’ve recommended magnesium to my clients a lot over the years especially clients Who have very tight muscles or have constipation issues. I’ve never seen any of these people mention or complain about detoxification symptoms upon starting magnesium. I’m not excited to have people have unpleasant detoxification symptoms, however, it really shows this product is doing something different than I’ve ever seen before.

I apologize if this blog seems like it’s one big advertisement for ReMag. It really isn’t. It’s really an ad for magnesium, and it just so happens that ReMag is the bomb! Give it a try! What have you got to lose, except the possibility of feeling better and giving your amazing body the raw ingredients it needs to do its job of creating the best health possible!

The Health Freak Launch Party!

This Saturday, May 18, 2019 I will be officially launching The Health Freak! It’s the name I’m giving to the health coaching services that I am now offering. We’re having a small launch party here at our home in Boulder, Colorado. My partner Beth is launching Beth Erlander a.k.a. The Grief Freak. She is intending to shift more of her psychotherapy practice to grief coaching. One of the wonderful things with this work for her is that she can coach people in other states and countries without being licensed in that area. We both have decided to use the word freak, because we are so very passionate about the work that we do and sharing it with others.

Unfortunately, we live in a crazy world where our food is far less nutrient dense than what it used to be 70 years ago. There’s a lower level of nutrients in our food and there’s a higher level of toxins in our air, water, soil and food. This means it can be highly beneficial to supplement with high-quality nutrition in addition to eating high-quality food. It also is becoming critical to start implementing things that can enhance your body’s detoxification processes, repair and support your microbiome, and make lifestyle changes like adding in various types of fasting and diet variation strategies. Your body has the capacity to heal itself, sometimes it just needs a little help or a lot of help in some cases. But bottom line, your body does the healing!

I have my own health story which I will share at another time, but or now I will just say I have had many health issues for a long time and because of that I’ve kept myself alive by working with many different practitioners and doing tons of my own research and implementation and experimentation. Because of all my trials and tribulations I have a wealth of experience and knowledge to share.

There are so many choices out there and decisions to make regarding how to best take care of yourself and your body. It can be absolutely daunting! My goal as a health coach is to hold your hand as much or as little as you need and be your guide in finding the best strategies to optimize your health.

It could be as simple as putting together a small supplement program to cover your bases, coaching you to integrate the various forms of fasting and diet variation into your lifestyle, parasite cleansing, heavy metal removal or implementing a whole body cellular detoxification and healing program. You can’t get well unless you nourish and cleanse the cell!

One of my clients is currently having some very significant improvements in her health by just implementing a very simple supplementation program. She has noticed improvements in her sleep, energy, mental function, flexibility, motivation, mood and she even feels like some very old structural patterns are starting to loosen up! This has all occurred over the course of about three months and I strongly believe that we can work together and create even greater improvements.

Curing the Incurable: The Vitamin C Story

In 1948, Dr. Fredrick Klenner cured 60 out of 60 children stricken with polio. 57 of these children were cured in three days, the other three children were cured in another two days! The only thing he used was vitamin C/ascorbic acid delivered by IV or intramuscular injections.

In his book curing the incurable, Dr. Thomas Levy, shares case study after case study of remarkable healings administered by Dr. Kleiner throughout his career. Doctors today will tell you that measles is not curable, yet Dr. Kleiner was curing it consistently over 70 years ago! Acute hepatitis, colds, flu’s, snakebites, poisonous insect bites, toxic chemical exposures and many other life-threatening diseases we’re often cured or at least significantly improved by Dr. Kleiner’s efficacious use of high dose vitamin C. He often used doses as large as 50,000 mg or even 100,000 mg Per day delivered by IV!

Dr. Robert Cathcart successfully treated thousands of people for over 40 years with high dose vitamin C often by oral administration. He coached his patients how to take ascorbic acid to bowel tolerance, Both while healthy and while sick. Dosages of 20 g or 50 g or 100 g or even 200 g of ascorbic acid per day for a patient with mononucleosis we’re not unheard of in his practice. He liked to talk about how many grams of vitamin C it took to cure somebody’s illness rather than focusing on the name of the illness. He would say things like, that was a 30 g a day cold, or that was 100 g bout of pneumonia or that was a 70 g stomach flu, etc.

My Top Five Supplements—The Foundation for Awesome Health!

Foundational supplementation

There are lots of videos on YouTube and lots of articles on the Internet where people share their top supplements lists. Here is my top 5!

1. Magnesium

This mineral is magic! If you want to blow your mind get a copy of Carolyn Dean’s book called The Magnesium Miracle-second edition. It is packed full of research backed Information on why magnesium should be supplemented by everybody on the planet. It is critical for the production of energy in the body. It is critical for the production of healthy bones. Even though there is more calcium in the bones than magnesium, magnesium is the gate keeper for allowing calcium in the bones. It can dissolve calcium in the arteries and keep it in solution so it does not deposit in the soft tissues where it does not belong. It is critical for proper heartbeat rhythm. While calcium helps the muscles contract, magnesium is necessary for muscle relaxation. It is involved in 600-800 enzymatic reactions in the body many of which are critical for detoxification. Hey can reduce and sometimes reverse atrial fibrillation. Hey can reduce or sometime is reverse restless leg syndrome. It can be incredibly helpful in reducing anxiety and depression. Our soils are seriously deficient in this mineral and thus so is our food. I will be writing a separate blog just for magnesium, so I will leave it at that for now but I could go on and on for hours!

There are many choices out there for magnesium supplements and much debate as to which is the best and most absorbable by the body. I throw my vote to Carolyn Dean’s ReMag. It is easily by far the most absorbable magnesium I’ve ever taken. Previous to taking it I typically was only able to handle 100 mg of any other form of magnesium without the laxative effect because of the dysbiosis in my gut. If I took more than 100 mg I would get loose stools and possibly diarrhea. I am currently taking 1200 mg of ReMag without any laxative effect! It is so powerful that many people I have recommended it to have had to start at a low-dose and increase it very very slowly because of its powerful detoxification effects.

Suggested dose: work your way up to 2-3 teaspoons per day. Best to use it in your drinking water so it’s spread out throughout the day. Start with 1/4 teaspoon per 1 quart of water mixed with 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt or Himalayan salt and drink throughout the day. The salt is suggested by Dr Carol and Dean to help keep the cells hydrated and eight in the detoxification process. If you don’t have any negative reactions increase your dose by 1/4 teaspoon every three or four days. If you have any strong negative reactions you will have to cut your dose to 1/8 of a teaspoon or one 16th of a teaspoon or less. Highly sensitive people may even have to start with just a few drops a day. That is how powerful of the stuff is regarding detoxification. It is totally worth your time to take it slow even if you have to take months to increase your dose.

If you are experiencing strong negative or unpleasant symptoms it is possible that adding in a high quality B complex and optimum levels of vitamin C May help with these symptoms. I will talk more about this in forthcoming blogs.

2. Vitamin C

I think I minimized the power of vitamin C for most of my life until recently. I knew it was important but I had no idea until this past year How amazingly powerful this supplement is for all of us. My change my thinking is mostly due to the wonderful presentations of Dr. Thomas Levy. This is another supplement I could talk on and on about. I will be writing a separate blog just about vitamin C and I will be including some very important videos. It is not only a powerful antioxidant it is also one of the best antitoxins available to us! It is absolutely incredible and absolutely ridiculous that vitamin C has not been integrated into general medicine. They can’t claim that there is not enough research because that is total BS, it is one of the most researched substances in medical science. Dr. Frederick Klenner cured 60 children of polio in 1948! 57 of them were cured in three days and the other three took two more days. He used very high doses of IV vitamin C and intramuscular injections of vitamin C. Dr. Klenner gathered an immense collection of case studies from his many years of practice and working with very large dosages of vitamin C and helping with a myriad of conditions, from polio to encephalitis to hepatitis to influenza to chemical exposure to snakebite venom and on and on!

Some people say that ascorbic acid really isn’t vitamin C and vitamin C is a complex and should be only taken as a whole foods complex. Linus Pauling, the only person to receive two solo Nobel prizes for his research was very clear that ascorbic acid is vitamin C.

Suggested dose: Dr. Thomas Levy suggests in his book Curing the Incurable, that a daily divided dose of 8 to 10 g per day, yes I said grams, 8000 to 10,000 mg per day is a reasonable dose as long as it does not give you diarrhea. A divided dose means three or four doses per day when you are feeling good. If you’re feeling like you’re on the edge of getting sick or you are sick 1 to 2 g, yes, 1000 to 2000 mg every 30 minutes or even more often as long as you don’t get diarrhea can be a very effective dose. If you don’t get diarrhea and you aren’t feeling better take more and take it more often! There is no known toxicity to vitamin C. If you are getting diarrhea or very loose stools then back off your dosage schedule to perhaps 1000 mg every hour or lasts until you find that sweet spot. As you start to feel better or your bowel tolerance will guide you to your appropriate dose.

Dr. Robert Cathcart, was a pioneer in the use of vitamin C especially oral vitamin C. He has noted cases where he was able to give people 200 g, yes, 200,000 mg of vitamin C per day without laxative effect to individuals suffering with mononucleosis. Dr. Cathcart’s preferred way of talking about an illness was how many grams of vitamin C per day could be taken Until bowel tolerance was reached. For instance, that was a 30 g cold or that was a 60 g cold or that was 100 g case of pneumonia. He coached people and how to effectively use oral vitamin C by taking as much as possible to bowel tolerance. That means, how much vitamin C can you take and not have diarrhea but still have loose stools. I have tried to coach so many people on how to do this over the last 10 years and most of them think taking 1 g or 2 g a day is a big deal. But the handful that I have gotten to actually take 20 g or more a day, until they reach bowel tolerance, when they are sick have been pleased with the results!

I am currently taking vitamin C in the form called sodium ascorbate. A rounded 1/4 teaspoon of this powder is approximately 1000 mg of vitamin C. Sodium ascorbte is a buffer form of vitamin C with a pH of approximately 7.0, So it should be easy to tolerate in the stomach. Nutribiotic is the brand I am using because it does not contain any GMO‘s.

There is another form of vitamin C called liposomal vitamin C. In this form nano particles or little spheres of fat which contain vitamin C which are incredibly easy to absorb. They can go right into the cells without any transport molecules necessary. One researcher has suggested that 5 g of this form of vitamin C might be equivalent to 50 g of vitamin C delivered by IV. The other nice thing about this form is that it does not create laxative effect!

3. Vitamin D

4. Vitamin K2

5. Vitamin A

These three vitamins are fat soluble. That means they can accumulate in the body and stay with you for a while. Water soluble vitamins will come out in your urine pretty quickly.

The hallmark of these three is that they are critical for the proper formation of bone. Dr Weston Price was a dentist back in the 30s and 40s from Cleveland Ohio. He was getting frustrated with how many of his children in his practice had cavities unlike their parents. He got it in his head that the problem was the processed foods that were just becoming part of the main stream food supply. So every year you took a big trip and went to a different part of the world to live for a short time with Indigenous people of that area who had not yet Inc. process food center their diets. He looked at their oral health and overall health and he took pictures. After many years of visiting many cultures all across the planet he found that even though their diets looked like they were very different there was one thing in common: all of their diets had high levels of these three fat soluble vitamins! With that knowledge he started treating people in his practice with cod liver and butter oil from grass fed cows and he began a healing cavities and other health issues! Cod liver oil because it is high in vitamin A and vitamin D and butter oil, which is made from The butter of Cows eating rapidly growing grass in the spring and early summer, which supplies vitamin K2. At the time he didn’t know what vitamin K2 was so he called it activator X, because he knew there was something intrinsically precious in that oil while the cows were eating spring grass. In Switzerland, villages save that butter from the spring and it was only fed to children and pregnant women because they understood how precious it was!

Vitamin D

Dosage: proper supplementation of vitamin D requires regular blood testing. It is easy to underdose and it is easy to overdose. At this point my research is showing that blood levels between 50 and 80 can be reasonable levels. There is ongoing debate in this regard. From what I have gathered thus far I would say best to keep it above 50 even know the reference range on the blood test will probably say 30 is the low-end. Be sure to supplement with vitamin D3.

Vitamin K2

Dosage: we are still waiting for a lot of foundational research to be done for this incredibly essential nutrient. It comes in two forms: MK4 and MK7. There is some debate which is the better form and some will say to take both because there appears to be some differences which are not overlapping. MK four version is what is found in animal products. The MK7 version is found traditionally in a fermented soy bean preparation called Natto.

Warning: if you are taking warfarin/Coumadin blood thinning medication consult with your doctor before beginning supplementation of vitamin K2 because it may have an increased coagulation effect and may require you to raise the level of your medication. However, and a talk by Dr. John Whitcomb, I learned that warfarin/Coumadin can increase the deposition of calcium in your arteries, so including vitamin K2 in your diet can be a very beneficial thing to reduce and possibly reverse this effect, so it could be very valuable in this regard. You may just need to work with your doctor to find the best level of your medication and this supplement.

Vitamin A

Dosage: probably the best source of vitamin A is from Grass fed beef or pastured chicken. 4 to8 ounces per week can be a wonderful thing! Many people will cringe at this, but watch what carnivores eat first when they kill their prey: the organs. I am in the process of investigating supplements which can replace liver but I haven’t found anything I’m excited about yet. In the past I have recommended cod liver oil but I have some concerns about mercury toxicity. I will block more about this in the future.

There are lots of great recipes out there for how to use beef liver and make it taste yummy!
