After trying just about anything and everything for my back, I came across Michael. Michael is very gifted and passionate and it carries over into his work. I have had pain in my low back for years and accepted it as being a part of me. After a few sessions with Michael, he was able to address the pain and it was so encouraging to know there was hope for this pain and it did not have to be part of who I am. What separates Michael from anyone else is his knowledge of the body. You know when you meet him that he cares about your situation and is invested in making you better. I was incredibly bummed when I had to move knowing I would never be able to find someone else like him. I for sure tried to convince him that his practice would thrive in the town I was moving to! Thank you Michael!!

I’ve been working with Michael for the last 2 years. I had been suffering from chronic pain for 5 years that had been diagnosed as TMJ, trigeminal neuralgia, or atypical facial nerve pain depending on who you talked with of the neurologists, internists, dentists, TMJ specialists, Facial Pain specialists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, etc. that I’d seen. After trying medications, oral splints, acupuncture, and physical therapy (some which had alleviated the symptoms for a limited time) Michael has now helped me to get pain free for several months in a row. His patience, tenacity, and support helped me manage through some significant pain that left me unable to eat and talk at times, sleep deprived most of the time, and always on edge just waiting for that one more shot of nerve pain through my face. Not only is Michael a great practitioner, but he is able to explain what he’s found or done in a way that’s understandable and logical. Michael has gotten me to a place where I no longer have to limit my activities but am the happy, optimistic person I like to be again.

Michael's skills and treatment methods are superior and his anatomy knowlege is excellent. His treatments have been very complimentary to my treatments with challenging patients.

Following a car accident in 2005 I was referred to Michael because of the excruciating pain I was experiencing. I had been rear-ended at a traffic light and I had blown-out discs in my neck and ribs out of whack and low back pain. I had sought relief from every discipline I could find, and Michael was the only care provider who managed to alleviate the pain. Even though the bulk of the pain was gone, I was still experiencing blurry vision, mental cloudiness and cognitive dis-abilities. I was told by a “specialist” at a traditional medical facility that this was due to depression, but that explanation did nothing for the symptoms, nor was any other medical provider with whom I consulted for this highly upsetting phenomenon. Michael was (and is) able to manipulate the bones in my head so that the blurriness, pain and confusion clear up instantly.
Michael’s work has made a profound difference to my whole family. Before I started working with Michael I couldn’t pick up my children and, due to the cognitive impairments, there were even times that I couldn’t even remember their names. I am fully functioning and participating in their lives now; Michael’s work has truly been a blessing to my family. I cannot recommend Michael highly enough and I have referred him to my friends and family including my friend who is in the Boulder midwifery community.

Dear Michael: First I’m not sure where to start, BUT you have changed my life and my pain. I want prospective clients to know about my history. My name is Debi, and have had 3 rear end car accidents in the last 10 years. At times I thought I must have “JUST GO AHEAD AND RUN INTO ME” on the back of my car. The really bad one was in 2003. I was sitting sideways talking with my husband. We were coming to a stop at a red light and were hit at 55 miles per hour, and the kid never hit his brakes.
I did everything I should do, doctors, x-rays, MRI’s, medications, therapy, shoulder surgery, and a pain psychologist. I was determined to get better. Friends would ask how I was and I would say “Well I’m not hooked on pain killers or alcohol, so I guess I’m good”. I would say that because I had lost a fiend to drinking to fight the pain, her organs shut down, she was in a bad auto accident around mine. I also lost a friend to overdose of pain medication, as she just couldn’t do it anymore. Pain does strange things to people. I was determined to not let that happen to me.
I was improving but only to pain levels of a 3 or 4. Then in the summer of 2009 my physical therapist, Amy, started doing DRY NEEDLE INJECTIONS. What a difference it made. My pain levels dropped to l or 2, except at the base of my skull (I call that the O ridge), headaches and this foggy feeling I had. In the fall she told me about Michael Mathieu, whom worked on her. He wasn’t covered by insurance and was $100 a session. She felt he could really decrease the amount of my appointment with her and massage. I was stuck on the No insurance thing, and didn’t call him.
In January, Amy said Debi you need to give Michael a chance; she really thought he could clear my head and O ridge. Being the New Year and all I set my first appointment. Not knowing what to expect, I was pleased I could wear my clothes and feel very comfortable and safe, since I didn’t know this guy. After the FIRST visit, my head wasn’t foggy anymore. I went weekly for about a month or so. By then my headaches were gone, it didn’t ache around my ears and my left shoulder didn’t hurt because he worked my liver. Very strange, I thought, but it worked.
A few months later, I was having lunch with my best friend Sandy, she said “something is different” what are you doing different. I told her about Michael. She said my eyes were clear, I didn’t look like I was in pain, I seemed happier. Sandy went home and told her husband, Dennis about Michael and to call me. He did, and asked me what Michael does. I said I don’t know he works the bones in my head and my veins and arteries I think. He called and set an appointment. Dennis has had terrible headaches for years and it was debilitating. No longer does Dennis have headaches.
So this is the funniest one I can tell you. So not long ago my husband finally asks, what does Michael really do. I said I can’t explain it but Sandy’s thumbs wouldn’t move and she went to Michael and they are now moving. It was something with her neck………………????
Amy, my physical therapist, says he just has a sense of the body and can feel where something is out of whack, and then goes to work on that area. I hope you give Michael a chance to change your life or the life of someone you know.
I trust him to fix my aches and pains. NOW, I hurt usually because I have over worked. I am playing golf again, working in the flowers, heck I can even scrub my own floors, carry in groceries, hold my grandchildren and play with them. My life has changed, I FEEL GREAT, and I am living again thanks to Amy and Michael. I hope this testimonial has helped. Give life a chance, don’t get caught up with traditional medicine, it isn’t enough.

I have been a client of Michael's for more than 2 years. My health continues to improve each day and I am noticeably better after each session with him. Michael has researched health concerns I have had and come up with ideas to address my health issues and concerns. I whole-heartedly recommend Michael as a practitioner. He is knowledgeable, kind, and understands what it is like to have health concerns that may be out of the ordinary. Michael has become an important part of my healthcare team and a friend. His work allows me to live a "normal" life; without his work I would continue with my health struggles.

I have lived with discomfort and back pain from scoliosis for over forty years. I tried numerous therapies during that time, including chiropractic and massage, which helped to some extent. However, nothing compares to what Michael has done for me. His thoughtful approach and gentle touch has been more powerful than any other treatment I have received. I now walk straighter, breathe deeper, move more comfortably and feel better, both physically & emotionally, than I have ever felt. I no longer fear a future of increased pain and limited activity but look forward to one of improved health and new adventures. Thank you, Michael!

Last summer I overheard this conversation between Ethan & his dad:
Ethan, age 7: "I feel better after Michael works on me."
Ethan’s dad: "What feels better?"
Ethan: "Just all of my insides."
Ethan: "I want to be a Rofer when I grow up so that I can make people feel better like Michael does."

I've been going to Michael for bodywork sessions for ten years. A bodyworker myself, I'm constantly impressed with his extraordinary expertise and the way he's always learning more and deepening his knowledge. Not only does Michael have a profound understanding of human anatomy, he is also an intuitive person with high sensitivity. No matter what problems I have sought his help with, I've never been disappointed. He's consistently exceeded my expectations by delivering wonderfully healing work.

“Rolfing has released me from pain and restricted movement that other therapies were not able to provide. I sleep better and am able to do more, and my scoliosis is not the hindrance it used to be. Michael is a relentless problem solver.”

I went to Michael several years ago with the usual aches and pains of a 50 year old woman who has led an active physical life. More specifically, while sitting on a road bike for any length of time, I had started having neck and shoulder pain that seemed to be getting worse. After receiving a series of 10 rolfing treatments over several months time, my overall shoulder and neck pain has practically vanished. I can enjoy long bike rides with less discomfort and continue to get stronger while I'm getting older. That keeps your confidence high! I encourage anyone with specific pain issues to see what rolfing treatments can offer.
